Handball drills

  • Blue throws the ball to the goalie and runs to the pylon.
  • Keeper catches the ball and throws a break out on the running blue player.
  • Blue takes the ball, runs around the pylon and tries to finish from the 9 meters.
  • Optionally, a defender can be put around the 9 to defend.
drawing Breakout
  • 5 against 5
  • 1 circle player with attackers
  • defenders 'hold' the circle player
  • attackers put a lot of pressure to reach the circle player
  • curve balls / via ground etc. Let them try out a lot.
  • Narrow space 3 or 4 meters mark between 6 and 12 meters
  • 2 defenders with vests stand at the 9 meter mark
  • 2 attackers with ball come in pass and go back, and then attack begins.
  • Make sure defenders make contact, right shoulder and left first hand over ball.
  • Attackers must constantly break free and distance themselves.
  • Try passing moves.
  • Can be done at the circle in 2, 4 and even 6 stations.
  • 2 defenders on the circle
  • 1 circle runner with vest
  • 2 attackers try to outplay the defenders via the circle runner
  • Possibly with goalkeeper
  • Use jump shot / pass move / drop throw etc.
  • Work in pairs or threesomes
  • Place 2 pawns about 2 meters apart
  • Player A stands between the pawns
  • Player B has a pile of hats in his hands
  • Player B throws the hats towards player A between the cones
  • Player A tries to dodge the hats and not get hit
Variation:
  • Each hat hit is 1 mission
  • Example: hit 5 hats? Then player A does 5 squats/push ups/sit ups
Variation for footwork:
  • Throw the hats only toward the feet
  • Lay out a circle with markers.
  • Divide the players into 2 teams.
  • 1 team defends, the other team tries to put the ball in the circle while overplaying.
  • Pay attention to footwork!
  • Passes across full width hall.
  • Whoever is first to throw 3 passes perfectly on center of chest wins.
Set out the speed ladder and have players move through the ladder to the beat of the music. Different variations are possible:
  • 2 feet out, 2 feet in.
  • 2 to the front, 2 to the back.
  • Hopping.
  • Hopping in zigzag; left of ladder, inside ladder, right of ladder, next compartment of ladder, left of ladder, etc.
  • Side jumps. Like a skier.
  • 2 teams in a row.
  • Rear goes forward by:
    • Crawling between legs.
    • Jumping over them.
  • In front? Throwing ball to the back.
  • 2 players versus 1 player.
  • Of the 2, 1 dribbles across to the other side and plays off the ball as a bounce.
  • That player dribbles back again with the ball.
  • Possibly with more players as a relay.
  • Double red over and over throwing.
  • Start up.
  • Throw the ball in behind.
  • Finish goal with jump shot.
drawing Overplaying and betting
  • Dribble relay with large zigzag, mark with pawns.
  • Possibly add null-pass with markers.
  • Make zigzag well wide and sharp!
