Handball drills

  • Divide the group into two teams
  • Team A on one side and Team B on the other side
  • At the teams try to throw on the yoga ball
  • If the yoga ball hits the bench of one team, the other team has won.
drawing Aiming for yoga ball
  • You make 2 pairs
  • 1 player stands without ball on the circle
  • 1 player stands with ball on the 9 meter line

  • On sign of trainer, the one with ball sprints forward and backward to the circle.
  • Arriving at the 9 meter line, the player with ball starts up and tries to pass.
  • The player without ball defends firmly.
  • You rotate through so that everyone attacks and defends once.

drawing attack-defense at high tempo
Ball moves from left to right and back again as the group moves on 1 line to the other side of the field.

Additional extension of this exercise:
  • Trainer names a player.
  • Player calls left or right player by name and switches positions. Fellow player crosses behind.
  • Both with and without ball.
The players learn in this way to coach each other, to see each other and not only to pay attention to the ball. Can be used as warming up as well as coaching training.
drawing Warming up Passing
  • Pass giving from LO-M / RO-MO
  • Pass giving in the run from LO to MO
  • MO runs in without ball, feints back and gives pass to LO.
  • LO feints towards the middle and throws on goal.
This exercise can also be done with 3 players.
  • MO then runs in without ball and passes ball to L/RO.
  • This exercise always in motion for the MO, run half circle, run backwards.
drawing Running in with feint
  • Make 2 rows facing each other.
  • Between the 2 rows there is a ball.
  • Players start dribbling at high speed.
  • On signal trainer they shift to the left or right.
  • When "ball" is called, they grab the ball and sprint to the sideline.
  • The one without the ball tries to intercept.

Walk movements practice zigzagging around pawns:
  • Walking
  • Forward
  • Backward
  • Sliding
drawing Warming up Walking movements
  • All balls at the center line.
  • Make 2-pairs.
  • On the sides of the center line at the edge of the field there will be 2 Pylons, in the middle near the balls there will also be a pylon.
  • You calmly roll/bounce the ball to the goal side. Throw the ball in such a way that the players can still catch it!
  • After you have thrown or rolled the ball, the players on the sides of the field must first slide across the center line toward you. From the post in the middle they may only start running towards the ball.

  • If you score, your team has a point; the first to 10 points wins!
  • If 1 person is left, have the person catch the balls and always pass them to you.
drawing Slide and throw
  • Make 2 rows: LO and RO
  • Start at both position with shooting on hands, high pace in succession.
  • After shot via side lane sprint to middle line.
  • Then grab ball and reconnect.

Each player is given a mat. The mats are about 12 to 16 meters apart.
  • On cue from the trainer, the defending side runs around its own mat, the attacking side sprints to the mat and tries to take the ball off the mat.
  • At the trainer's signal, the defending side does a backward head roll, the attacking side sprints to the mat and tries to grab the ball.
  • At the trainer's signal, the defensive side does 2 push-ups, the offensive side sprints to the mat and tries to grab the ball.
  • At the trainer's signal, the defensive side runs a lap backwards around the mat, the attacking side sprints to the mat and tries to grab the ball.
After each time, you switch between offense and defense. The defense uses the handball rules.
drawing Matbal
  • You make 9 compartments with hats
  • Divide the group into 2 teams
  • Each team gets 3 vests
  • Each team tries to make 3 in a row
  • When all the hats are down, the next player can move 1 hat at a time
drawing Three in a row
  • Make 2 equal teams that will relay against each other
  • Make it harder by placing obstacles
drawing Relay
  • All players divide into the corners and buildup positions.
  • There are 2 defenders, 1x LO and 1x RO. They defend first passively and later actively.
  • The left builder:
    • Plays the ball to the corner.
    • Starts in and gets it played back.
    • Plays through to the middle at pace.
    • Runs diagonally back to the sideline.
    • Starts in and makes a passing move past the defender.
    • The same happens on the right side.
  • The left builds up:
    • Plays to the corner.
    • Gets it back and plays through to the middle.
    • Middle starts up as does the builder.
    • Corner starts in and gets the ball (with or without bounce).
    • Defender defends passively.
    • Corner tries to pass.
    • Same on the other side.
  • The left builder:
    • Plays ball to the middle.
    • Gets it back and plays to the corner.
    • Corner starts putting pressure and so does the builder.
    • Middle finishes by jump shot or passing move.
    • Defender is active right away. If ball goes through LO, LO defender is active, and vice versa.
