Hockey drills

  • red = attacker
  • blue = defender

  • the field is divided into 2 by cones
  • red plays the ball in to blue -> blue plays the ball back to red
  • then a 1 on 1 starts
  • goal of blue is to force the attacker to the outside
  • red's goal is to score as quickly as possible (through the middle is the quickest way)
  • you cannot cross the cones line
  • when the attacker arrives in the circle he/she can hit the goal

Rules:
  • You may not pass the ball forward, only backward
  • You are allowed to drive the ball forward

  • Player 1 shoots at goals.
  • When player 1 has shot, player 2 goes to try to score in the goaltending area.
  • Player 1 must run Diversion.

Organization:
  • Set up the exercise as shown in the picture.
Execution:
  • Player 1 plays the ball to player 2.
  • Player 2 plays the ball to player 3.
  • Player 2 runs wide.
  • Takes the ball, runs into the circle and shoots at goal (left on the backhand, right on the forehand).
  • Turn through, chasing the ball.

NOTE: Take everything on the forehand!

In this exercise, we are only going to flop!
  • The ball starts on the 23-meter line.
  • Goes wide to player 2, then deep to player 3 and then to head circle, to player 4.
  • Player 4 also rounds off with a flat.
Coach points:
  • Hands together during the flats.
  • Hands low to the ground during the flats.
  • Stick well upright so ball does not go up.

  • When the players reach the last pawn, the last player runs around the pawn.
  • And this last one is going to attack.
  • The defender tries to defend it out.

  • The focus here is that the defender defends accompanying and keeps the attacker constantly on the forehand.

Focus points:
  • Keep stick still when defending -guided.
  • Wait for the right moment.
  • Try to guide the attacker into the corner.
  • Keep the attacker constant on the forehand.
