Hockey drills

  • A takes the long corner
  • Plays to D instead of B
  • D hits the ball on the dot or at the 2nd post
  • B stands ready to punch/tip the ball in
drawing Long corner
  • A takes the long corner
  • B offers from the back line to the 5 meter circle
  • Gets a hard ball that is immediately rebounded to the 2nd post
  • D stands there and tips the ball into the goal
  • C also offers outside the 5 meter circle, but does not get the ball
drawing Long corner
  • Player A plays the ball with a flats or hard push on C.
  • Player C comes running in and rebounds the ball wide at once to player B who has come running in.
  • B takes the ball in stride and accelerates with the ball on the stick to the edge of the "dotted circle.
  • There he passes the ball with a hard push to player C who has run around the pawn and offers himself.
  • The ball is accepted just outside the circle and then taken into the circle with 1x touch and hit on goal.
  • Then the player gets a 'rebound' ball played to him from the back line by the trainer and finishes it on the goal.
Passing: CAB
drawing Bouncing the ball
Player A plays the ball, alone, through the restricted area to player B or C.

  • Players attack
  • Defended by 2 defenders and a goalkeeper
  • Ball and players may not pass through the restricted area
Game ends on a goal or a defending player who hit the ball over the sideline.

drawing Attack with
Conquer the goaltending:

  • Team blue and team red
  • With a controlled pass through the goalmouth, you "conquer" the goal.
  • The team that conquered all the goals wins.
  • A goal can be recaptured by the other side playing a controlled pass through that goal.
drawing Party Form
Goal Exercise:
Make high pressure tactics clear to a team.

  • 6 vs. 6
  • Setup defense is 4-2 and possible goalkeeper
  • Attacking formation is 3-3.
Ball is taken out alternately by defenders and attackers.

Goal of defense
In possession of ball:
  • Play ball out and score in 1 of the 2 goals on the center line.
  • Form triangles so that someone can always be played.
  • Be able to change sides when crowded on 1 side.
No ball possession:
  • Play compactly / ensure that the ball + player on the ball guide to the outside.
  • Cover the inside of an attacker so that the way to the goal is covered.
Goal attack
In possession of ball:
  • Attackers compact when ball is in middle of field, when ball is played away to side 1 attacker must run into corner and other 2 attackers assume scoring position in circle.
  • Be able to shift ball from side when crowded on 1 side.
No ball possession:
  • Attackers high pressure on ball / cover play-off opportunities.
  • Midfield compact until ball is on one side and then pressure.
drawing Game tactics with attackers and defenders
Attackers: players 1, 2 and 3
Defenders: player A, B and C

  • All other players divide in line behind the defenders.
  • Player A starts the game and plays one of the attackers.
After each interruption such as shoot, ball out of the circle or goal, the defenders become attackers and new defenders come in from rows A,B and C.
Play starts immediately after the defender brings in a new ball to 1 of the attackers.

  • The attackers join the back of rows A,B and C. Do not run through the game.
  • Short attacks of up to 1 minute at high intensity.
Notes:
  • Direct pressure to prevent hard ball on goal.
  • Road to goal closed.
  • Recognize where the danger is; free player.
  • Do not give space in the circle.
  • Taking away does not always have to be done, keeping path to goal closed is.
  • Defenders benefit from quickly passing the ball to the first attacker who is ready.
drawing 3 vs 3 switching and putting pressure
Two exercises simultaneously. Note; only on goal if you have eye contact with goalkeeper.

Left:
  • A plays to B. B back to A.
  • B takes strong attack, turns over forehand, or backhand into circle and finishes on goal
Right:
  • C plays to D.
  • D plays back to C
  • D in banana towards circle
  • C passes into space around edge of circle
Attention:
  • Timing running action and timing pass
  • Speed in the exercise and tight passing
Making it more difficult:
  • Using defender. Shine defending.
drawing Impact and timing
  • Defender delivers the ball.
  • Attacker enters the circle via the outside.
  • Defender gives pressure as attacker enters the circle.
  • Play out 3 versus 2.
drawing 3 vs. 2
  • Player 1 plays to A.
  • A accepts and drives around pylons and finishes on goal.
  • A positions immediately after shot on goal for 2nd ball.
Almost simultaneously plays:
  • Player 2 to B.
  • Player B drives ball around circle and plays to player B.
Attention:
  • Timing. when does player 2 start.
  • After shot immediate switching and positioning.
  • Player A must be played into the run/movement.
drawing Finishing and timing
  • A pushes or B
  • B passes alternately to C or D.
  • They round on goal.
drawing Strike left or right
  • Attacker on the ball runs up and does a reverse.
  • Passes to attacker 2.
  • 2 vs. 2 starts.
drawing Reverse and 1 versus 1
