Korfball drills for technique shoot / score / shot

  • In pairs at a post
  • The shooter starts with the ball
  • The shooter plays the ball into the support
  • The shooter makes a hook to the left or right and gets the ball back
  • The shooter shoots at goal
  • The intercepted ball is played directly back to the shooter
  • The shooter plays the ball back to the support
  • The shooter makes a through ball
  • After scoring twice, switch positions
  • Everyone does this exercise 5 times
Training objective:
Picking up the shot directly in a duel between them.

Shot duel
Per 2-team a ball and a post.

  • Making 2 out of 5 distance shots from 6 meters.
  • Then you get one chance from 4 meters.
  • You must score the one from 4 meters to earn a point.
  • Your opponent can undo this point by also scoring the 4-meter chance.
  • Score 3 out of 5 short chances from 4 meters.
  • Then score 2 penalty throws, on 2, to earn a point.
  • Your opponent can undo this by also scoring both penalty throws.
  • Score 2 out of 5 shots behind the basket at 5 meters.
  • Then score 3 through balls, from 3 chances, to earn a point.
  • Your opponent can undo this by also scoring 3 through balls.
  • Score 1 out of 5 distance shots at 8 meters.
  • Then score 3 out of 4 chances under the basket.
  • Your opponent can undo this by scoring 3 out of 3 chances under the basket.
  • Each pair must try to crack the code. This is a four-digit code where the sequence matters.
  • Each exercise is a number; they can use this number in the code.
  • When they have done 4 exercises, they pass this as the code, in the order in which they did the exercises.
  • The trainer then indicates how many the players got right and how many are in, but not in the right place.
Exercises:
  • 8 walk-through balls
  • 5 rounds of running ladders pp
  • 2 laps around the whole field
  • 5 fallback balls right
  • 5 safety balls left
  • touch post small chance, 8 score
  • 20 penalty throws
  • 6 distance shots 6 m in front of the basket
  • 6 distance shots 5 m behind the basket
Shooting game where they get to take a card when they have scored.

  • Each playing card shows a "color": clubs, spades, hearts or diamonds.
  • Each color represents a fitness exercise:
    • Hearts: Push-ups
    • Spades: Squat
    • Clubs: Burpee
    • Diamonds: Lunges
  • Once they have picked a card, they must first perform the corresponding exercise.
  • They do this the number of times the card indicates.
  • For example, Hearts 4 = push up 4 times.
  • Then they may continue shooting again.
  • The group with the most cards has won.

  • Pairs at the basket
  • Pawns placed in a square with a distance of 5 meters from the basket
  • Number 1 runs a pattern where shots are made at each pawn
  • Number 2 runs the same pattern and tries to score more than number 1
  • In case of a tie take turns shooting from pawn to preference until someone scores and the other misses
drawing Chasing square
  • Score 15 through balls without missing
  • Red plays to white and runs away diagonally to the back.
  • White plays back to red who shoots.
  • Blue catches, who then plays the ball back to white.
  • White plays through to red and blue pulls away diagonally at the posts, gets the ball from red and makes a shot.
  • White catches off, plays to red, and so on.

  • Score 15 swerve balls, keeping all 3 moving all the time. When the ball appears to be in possession of the rebounder, the next shooter steps away.
  • score 20 distance shots from movement and do this from all sides.
drawing Shot variations with triples
Put at least half the baskets of the number of players participating.
  • One player with ball stands under each basket
  • The remaining players stand in the middle between the set up baskets
  • Have the players walk to a basket and pull a hook and then shoot it
    • If the shot is on a normal basket the player gets 1 point
    • Is the shot in at a shooter's basket then you get 2 points
  • If the player has scored, he walks to the center and chooses another basket to shoot at.
  • If the player did not score then you switch with the passer.
  • Play to your own choice of points
Objective:
  • A combination of moving, passing and shooting
  • An easy exercise to teach a pull away ball
Description:
  • The player at the post pulls away, gets the ball and shoots.
    Directions you can give:
    • all in quick succession
    • good tight pass
    • do not pull away right behind the post, difficult for a good pass
  • The passer goes to catch the ball and there is a change of position
Variation:
  • The catcher may shoot 1 more time himself if he/she catches the ball without colliding
  • The focus in this exercise is angles running, many players run in corners, making it easy for opponents to keep up.
  • The idea in this exercise is to force angular running lines. A lot of explosiveness is required from the players, so the exercise is quite tough.
  • Place 4 markers in front of the basket, angled towards the basket about 3/4 meters away. A declarer stands under the basket and player goes x number of goals/minutes/actions running lines using the markers.
    • Multiple combinations are possible. Should there be a third player, he/she can rest or possibly do a strength exercise such as Jumping-jacks, sit-ups, planking.

  • Start pawn behind -> forward -> left -> right -> player comes to shot.
  • Start pawn in the back -> forward -> to the right -> to the left -> player makes a shot
  • Start pawn in the back -> forward -> to the right -> to the left -> to the right -> player reaches shot
  • Start pawn in the back -> forward -> to the left -> to the right -> to the left -> player reaches shot
  • Start pawn in front -> To the back -> To the left -> To the right -> Player makes a shot

  • You can possibly extend the exercise with a long line, through a marker 3/4 meters behind the basket. After a running combination, above, the player runs to the back and takes a shot. Mirrored is also possible.
drawing Explosive swerve
  • We work in threesomes
  • Two players under the post and one halfway up the box.
  • Play the ball forward and sprint after it.
  • The player in front throws the ball to the second player under the post and runs sideways.
  • The ball is placed on the running player and he/she shoots.
  • Under the post is caught and the shooter there becomes second player.
  • We score 10x left turn and 10x right turn.
  • The pace of the exercise should be high to reach competition level.
drawing Shot after lateral movement
You stand in pairs on a pole
  • 1 in front of basket at shot distance
  • 1 player is rebounder/forward
The rebounder gives a pass to the attacker standing at shot distance.
  • if the rebounder can catch the ball without it colliding he may shoot
    • if the ball bounces first, the shooter can continue playing
  • this way all players play against each other to score 5 points for the fastest score.
