Korfball drills

Set-up:

Three poles in a triangle from each other. On the left of each pole a hat and in the middle a hat. Under each pole one person with ball. The rest by the hat in the middle.

Exercise:

Run from the middle to a hat. There you receive the ball from the passer, play it back and make a run through. The person who runs through stands under the post and the bitch goes to the middle to turn.

  • There are all groups of 2 made.
  • The groups get per pair a ball and have to throw the ball over.
  • When they do this, they have to run around the pole, so they are not allowed to pass the ball while standing still.
  • Running doesn't matter in this exercise.
  • Running is jogging, and they have to keep an eye on their partner.
  • The group is divided over the poles in groups of 2 or 3.
  • Practicing shooting
    • Which group at a distance of 5 meter will be first to score 6 times.
  • Practicing with dunkers
    • Which group will be first to score 12 passes.
  • Practicing with short chances
    • Which group will be first to score 9 short chances.
  • Practicing penalty throw under hands
    • Which group will be first to score 12 penalty shots under hands.

  • Suicide runs are short sprints meant to improve speed, strength and agility.
  • To do a suicide run on a field you lay down four markers.
  • See for yourself which distances you use/need.
  • Then you tap the first line, run back to the starting point, tap the second line, run back to the starting point etc.
  • When you have tapped all four lines you will have a korfball pole at the end of the suicide run where you have to take a penalty throw.
  • You can also choose something else.
  • Oo you can also choose to run them backwards.
  • Divide the people into three groups.
  • 1 shooter in front of the basket.
  • Underneath the korfball attacker and defender.
  • The attacker takes position and the defender makes it difficult.
  • Catch the ball under pressure.
  • Change after 3 shots.
  • Each group has a basket and a ball, the baskets should preferably (but not necessarily) be arranged in a circle or rectangle.
  • The number of persons per group is less important (all groups should be about the same size).
  • The first assignment for the groups is: make 10 walkthrough ball goals.
  • When you are done, the creator of the last goal goes to the trainer to get the next assignment. Which group has completed all assignments first?
  • The trainer has a piece of paper with a list of assignments.
  • When someone comes to get the next task, first ask him which task he just did (it can vary a lot after a while) and then give the next task.
  • List:
    • 10 passing balls,
    • 15 penalty shots,
    • 5 shots from 4 meters,
    • 10 walk-throughs from behind the basket,
    • 10 shots from 3 meters behind the basket.
  • All players line up.
  • The first two players have a ball.
  • Player 1 starts shooting, when he has shot, player 2 may also start.
  • If 1 scores before 2, he may go to the back.
  • If 2 scores before 1, 1 is out and must go to the side.
  • The last two players must start at the same time and score 3 times.
  • The one who gets 3 first wins.
  • Shooting exercise in which the players are divided into pairs over the posts.
  • There is a defender behind the post and an attacker in front at 8 metres.
  • All attackers make a shot until he sits.
  • The pole that scores the fastest gets a point.
  • Immediately after that the attacker and offender switch positions.
  • Continue this way until you have 10 points.

  • Continue this way until you have 10 points.
  • The children stand in a square around the pole.
  • They pass the ball around by walking in and out and coming up next to the person with the ball.

Variation

  • The person in the middle stands as a catcher and the person behind the post as a passer.
  • The two in front start moving, the ball is thrown out or passed.

  • The children choose their own distance,
  • at least 4 metres, to shoot.
  • They walk in and out and practice to shoot on 1 leg.

  • First we practice this, after about 5 minutes, they will compete against each other who is the first to score 5 times.
  • It must be shooting on the move.
  • At 2,5 meter distance from the post stands a pawn.
  • From there the players make an underhand penalty throw.
  • First practice a few times and then see who scored 10 first.
