drawing Passing and Receiving
Goal:
Improve switching moment by putting direct pressure on the ball

content:
  • we start 1 vs 1
  • 1 defender against 1 attacker
  • the attacker tries to score in the small goalmouth, and immediately switches to the other side and becomes a defender

Coaching:
  • Direct switching
  • direct pressure on the ball
  • no corners in your run
  • apply full pressure for 3 seconds
drawing A duel in which quick switching from offense to defense is crucial.
  • Keeping ball on foot.
  • Player plays in on inside of pawn, accepts with one touch and allows her/him to turn around pawn.
  • Plays across, again inside etc.
  • Last player in the 16 meters takes over and dribbles with the ball through the exercise and runs back to start.
drawing Positioning well and moving the ball quickly.
Game principle.
  • Switching gears as quickly as possible is the focus of this exercise.
  • As a coach you can of course always choose where you put the emphasis in this exercise: switching to ball possession or switching after ball loss.

The exercise form
  • The red side plays in the red square a positional game 7 vs 5.
  • When yellow captures the ball, the player of the yellow side plays a fellow player in the yellow square.
  • The 5 yellow players from the red square plus 5 random red players move to the yellow square.
  • Switching, in other words. In the yellow square the positional play then continues 7 against 5, until red captures the ball and plays it back to the red square.
  • Then the players switch back to the red square.

Coaching
Apart from whether the positional play goes well, the main issue is of course the switching. Therefore:

  • Switchover to ball possession: is the game actually moved to the other square as soon as possible?
  • Switchover after ball loss: can the pass to the other square still be prevented? By putting immediate pressure on the ball
  • Switching after ball loss: if the game cannot be prevented, do 2 players switch to the other square a.s.a.p.?

Stand in a square per 4
Pass the ball around with the following commands
  • Pass to player on your left
  • Pass to player on your right
  • Pass in turn to player next to you and diagonally (Next to - Diagonal - Next to - Diagonal - ...)
  • Pass to player next to you. A player may return the ball max 1 time per turn.
Variations
  • Pass with left or right
  • With or without stopping
  • Stop left, pass right or vice versa
Note on numbers
Combine with pass exercise where 2 or 3 players face 2 or 3 players: pass, follow ball and join others

  • 1.1 Dribbling around the pawns:
