Volleyball drills

Organization:
  • Field A.
    • Players lined up at 6 meters and 1 player on p2
    • Reserve on p2
  • Field B:
    • Trainer with ball carrier at 3m
    • Players on p1 and P5 and reserve on p6
Execution:
  • Trainer throws ball up high.
  • Player on p6 passes to P2 gets setup on 3m line and plays the BH to p5 or p1
  • Underhand play up and catch at Trainer.
  • Run: P6 to spare P2; P2 to spare P6
  • P6 takes the place of P1 or P5 and these go to field A P6

  • Divide the team into two groups and have them form two rows facing each other on the 3-meter line.
  • Have the players play over the net and then walk around the cone to join the other group.
  • On 1 side, parallel to the sideline, place a speed ladder and before joining the line, have the players do a drill through the ladder.
  • On the other side, place pawns where they have to slalom, turn around.
  • Importantly, the ball should not fall to the ground, communication is important.
  • Optionally add a penalty if the ball falls to the ground. Head roll, Back roll.
  • First with underhand throwing and catching - then overhand. Catch and push change to toss up and over-key.

  • Trainer throws ball into far corner.
  • Player 1 runs to ball as fast as possible.
  • Player 1 plays the ball up.
  • Player 2 runs along to the ball.
  • Player 2 plays the ball to player 3.
  • Player 3 plays the ball over the net.
Goal: Move quickly to a hard-played ball, but with the calmness to play it up, so that running along fellow player can place the ball in their own court.

Equipment setup:
  • Goal in the middle of the field against the wall, with one player in it
  • Other players in a row
Game sequence:
  1. Players throw/strike the ball at the goal and try to score in the goal. Each in turn.
  2. The player in the goal , blue, tries to keep the balls out of the goal.
Note:
Use 5 pawns as scoreboards.
Each player who scores may take a pawn away from the goalkeeper. At 5 goals switch players in goal.

  • Everyone lies on their stomachs on the back line with their heads toward the wall
  • The trainer stands along the net and throws balls toward the players.
  • On the trainer's signal, stand up as quickly as possible and make a high reception back to the trainer
  • Or you put down a hoop for them to hit to.

  • Throw against wall and catch with pylon
  • Throw through the ground against the wall and catch with a pylon
Trainer starts rally.

  • Players must handle ball and rally.

Move to a setter (at position 2)


  • setter must take a defensive position immediately after the set
  • is the attack outside, then the 2 other players must join immediately
  • is the attack in the middle, apply the same.

Everything at high tempo and high quality

2-pairs:

  • throw ball over:
    • from neck
    • left arm
    • right arm
  • replay:
    • OH - OH
    • OH - once for yourself OH
    • OH - once for yourself bra
    • OH - one time for yourself smash
High quality, firm stand, control.

OH overplaying and trailing under the net.

2 against 2

  • At least 1x overplay among themselves, then over the net. After overplaying, run to the net, touch and reverse back into position.
  • To the back line, touch and return to position.
(Intention is to keep the ball in play, so no contest. Full control)

  • Trainer throws ball in the air
  • 2 players run for the fastest to the ball.
  • Whoever has the ball attacks.
  • Whoever does not have the ball goes to defend goal.

  • One player stands in front of the hoop
  • She/he must run to the back
  • Ball can also be passed short so you must also defend short

This is a game-style exercise.
  • In the opposite field, place a bench with a number of upright pawns on it.
  • Children line up on the 3-meter line one after the other.
  • The trainer throws/plays the ball out and the children hit the ball over the net and try to knock the pawns off the bench.
  • Pawn off the bench? Then you have 1 point.
