Volleyball drills

  • everyone in a line with the ball between their feet
  • always jump with the ball between their legs
  • they jump to a cone, around it and back again.
  • tap the next one, etc.
  • additions: forwards, sideways, slalom, through the hoop
  • make it a competition

  • first explain the technique (triangle, above the head, 10 fingers play the ball)
  • Two pairs with a net in between and only play overhead.
  • Let the pairs rotate (always new pairs).

This exercise assumes that the players know where they must stand and which zone is for them. So explain this well in advance

  • Players stand in the right zone
  • Reserve player serves the ball
  • Block/defence, trainer throws in the ball
  • After every service turn.
  • Serve only when they think they are in the right position
    • Also serve if they are not in the right position and serve on the uncovered position.
  • They have to correct each other where they should stand.
  • Throw a ball into the difficult zone every now and then. Who was this ball for?
  • It's about recognizing your own zone. Who takes which ball? Call loose when in doubt etc
  • Make clear agreements in advance!

ribbon-pass-2--1

  • Spread over 3m line.
    • Pass the ball in a zigzag and follow through. See picture
  • Later play underhand, only overhand.
    • One side of the net underhand, other side overhand.

  • With this exercise the players learn how to play 'smart'. just over the net or in the back corners.
  • The field is divided into two halves. On both halves there is a row of players.
  • On the other side of the net are hoops, on the places where normally no players stand.
  • The players throw the ball in front of themselves and play the ball overhand into the hoops. For every bale in the hoop they get one point, the team with the most points has won. (addition: the trainer plays the ball and the players play into the hoops).

movement

  • Trainer stands with ball carrier at the net
  • Players divide into 2 groups
  • 1 group stands on the left side of the field other group stands on the right side of the field

  • Trainer throws the ball alternately left and right of the field,
  • players have to catch the ball and put it back in the cart and then close again on the other side.
  • Extension: players can play reception to the net and catch the ball themselves.

The aim is to shift focus, so don't dwell on it for too long but be ready for the next action straight away.

  • Make 3 teams with 1 regular volleyball and 1 tennis ball.
  • The one with the tennisball is the lummel (player 2) and stands in the middle.
  • Player 1 plays the ball to the dummy, the dummy throws the tennis ball to player 1.
  • The dummy plays the ball to player 1 and player 1 throws the tennisball to the dummy again.
  • After this player 1 plays the ball to player 3, player 3 plays the ball to the lummel, and the lummel throws the tennisball to player 3.
  • to player 3. The dummy plays the ball to player 3 again and gets the tennisball back. etc...
  • requires concentration of the players and fast switching.
    • If you don't have tennisballs you can also use 2 balls.
  • 3 teams.
    • 1 is at the net,
    • 2 in the back and
    • 3 in the middle.
    • 1 plays bra to 2,
    • 2 plays bra to 3,
    • 3 plays bra back to 2 and then turns around,
    • 2 plays bra to 1,
    • 1 plays bra to 3 etc etc
    • Pay attention to this and after a while change the middle man.
  • Ditto,
    • Only now the middle man doesn't turn and we play the ball backwards.
    • So 1 plays to 2,
    • 2 plays backwards to 3 and
    • 3 plays the ball to 1,
    • 1 again to 2 etc. etc.
    • Pay special attention to the position of the middle man!
    • Again, pay attention to this.
  • 2 rows of players
    • 1 row on the left back
    • 1 row at the right back
  • create with 4 pawns a virtual line where they have to stand behind
  • trainer stands at the other side of the net and throws the ball somewhere in the field.
  • 1 of the 2 front rows calls LOS orI (agree on that)
  • this player passes the ball (in/to) the basket that is between position 2 and 3.
  • Ball in the basket is 2 points for the team, against the basket is 1 point.
  • Set a target for the team, for example 25 points.

It is possible to add a distributor and an attacker, provided the assignment runs well.

  • pass-accuracy
  • 2 rows of players
    • 1 row on the left back
    • 1 row at the right back
  • create with 4 pawns a virtual line where they have to stand behind
  • trainer stands at the other side of the net and throws the ball somewhere in the field.
  • 1 of the 2 front rows calls LOS orIK (agree on that)
  • this player passes the ball over the net to the other (who did not call loose)
  • player who has caught the ball puts it in the bin.
  • shout-5
  • Everyone on a line with the ball between their feet.
  • always jump with the ball between your legs
  • Variant 1:
    • jump with 2 legs towards another line
  • variant 2:
    • do 1 jump forward
    • turn half a turn
    • do 1 jump backwards
    • turn half a turn, etc.
  • Variant 3:
    • put pawns/hats down and let them zigzag
    • move sideways (face forward)
  • make it a competition

Team 2
: One player sits on the ground with legs wide and has the ball.
The other player is standing.

  • The sitting player rolls the ball 1x along the left leg and the standing player taps the ball back.
  • After this the ball goes past the right leg and the standing player moves with closing pass to this ball and taps it back.
  • This way from left to right on a good tempo.
