Volleyball drills
First, a quick turn in.
1 playmaker
1 "false-dead" in the other half
1 attacker without ball
The rest with the ball line up behind the attacker.
- Number 1 with the ball throws to the playmaker, who gives a set up and the attacker tries to score.
- The sham is going to try to pass and catch the ball, if he succeeds, the attacker is "dead" and has to take over the place of the sham who may now join the line.
- If the attacker scores he will get the ball and join the back of the line.
- This continues until there is only 1 attacker left, if he scores again, he or she is the winner.
- The last ball is thrown by the trainer.
Divide players in pairs with a net in between and a ball for each pair:
1. first throw and catch overhead (20x). After that bounce the ball under the net (20x).
2. Player 1 throws, 2 plays back overhead. Then runs to the backline to touch it and gets another ball. 15x then change.
3. Player 1 throws a ball from 2 meter line, player 2 is ready at the net to block. After the block sprint to the backline to tap the ball. 15x then change.
4. Player 1 (now standing in front of the net) throws a ball to player 2 on the backline. Player on backline passes back underhand, runs to the net, taps it and runs back to backline. 15x after that change.
5. finally play over together.
- 2 rows of players
- 1 row on the left back
- 1 row at the right back
- create with 4 pawns a virtual line where they have to stand behind
- trainer stands at the other side of the net and throws the ball somewhere in the field.
- 1 of the 2 front rows calls LOS orI (agree on that)
- this player passes the ball to the playmaker, setup and attack straight ahead. Attacker retrieves his own ball.
- The playmaker goes on the attack, Paschal becomes setupper, the attacker joins the shortest row.
- If you did not have the ball, join the shortest line.
- Player A throws/strikes the ball towards player C.
- Player C passes the ball to player B.
- Player B sets up the ball.
- Player C attacks.
Goal: try to attack/play 3rd ball on the mats (straight or diagonal).
After each ball move one place in your own group.
Extension: When there are enough players one could also choose to place a block.
Players stand in a line across the width of the field
The trainer indicates gestures with his hands:
Up --> players forward
Down --> players to the back
Left/Right --> players go left or right
Clap hands --> burpee
Two hands up --> three blocks at the net
See picture. Take turns throwing the ball. After throwing the ball touch the back line and go back to the same spot.
Throwing good? Then all underhand. Later all above hands.
Trainer throws ball:
1. Pass â€" catch run through (B puts ball in box and joins back)
2. Pass â€" setup â€" overhand play (A plays ball 1-3 B 2, C passes ball in front of himself)
3. Same B. Only now C passes ball to position 2-3 where 1 player will be standing.
To practice jumping make 2 pairs.
It's not about the run up but purely about the jump.
1 of the 2 sits on the ground with the feet straight ahead and the arms spread.
The other jumps for example over the right arm after that over the legs and then again over left arm. (5 rounds and then switch)
- All 1 ball and first try to play overhead on 1 spot, then
- All 1 ball and hit the ground against the wall.
- Hit the ball so your wrist is over the ball.
- Remember to get out and both arms in the air.
- Walk slowly to the other side of the hall.
- One player indicates with a "Yes" that the other players have to do an assignment.
- On the way back another player gives the assignments.
The assignments can be made up by the players themselves. Until everyone has been. - Squats with arm swing, bend the knees (weight backwards as if you are sitting on a chair) swing the arms downwards and as soon as you come up with the arms again, the body comes up to the toes.
- Handwalk. Put your hand flat on the ground and walk as far as you can with your hands in front of you, walk back with your hands under the shoulder, press up and walk with your feet to the hands
- Loose twist and stretch + penalty bench
Play the ball underarm.
- Accent on foot position (wide and 1 leg before and after the pass)
- Arms straight and still when passing - right leg before and after the pass - step out on the left for the follow-up action
- Also use the knees
Two teams in the length of the field.
Pass the ball at the net 10 times at 6 mtr and the player at 6 mtr passes the ball back.
Coach each other when things are not going well and indicate whether the ball is good or not.
Make 3 or 4 teams (depends on the amount of players).
1 player on 7mtr line and 2 at the net.
- Player 1 plays the ball overhand to player 2 (7mtr).
- Player 2 plays the ball underarms to player 3 (net)
- Player 3 plays the ball overhand again to player 1.
If the exercise is running player 1 can hit the ball overhand (quietly).
