Volleyball drills

Various exercises through the speed ladder.

  • First priority on correct execution of the exercise, then increase speed.
  • Four ladder repetition per exercise.
  • Possible exercises for illustration - see Youtube for many examples/performances
    • 1 foot per box -
    • 2 feet per box -
    • 2 in, 2 out.
    • Hooping
      • expand to 1 box skip 1 back
      • or sideways (right v/d speed ladder, in, left v/d speed ladder in etc.)


  • 1/3 players on 1 side of the field (scoring side)
  • 1/3 players serve and go on the other half
  • 1/3 players wait for their turn
    • you can only score points on the "scoring side" of the pitch
    • If you make a mistake or the other team scores, you have to leave the field.
    • If you win against the scoring side, you take their place on the "scoring side".
    • If you win on the scoring side, you get 1 point.
      • play until 1 team has 15, or a time limit and see who has the most points at the end


Score with assignment:

  1. Ball in 2x over
  2. Ball in 3x, placed (BH or OH)
  3. Ball in 3x, 3m attack
  4. Free


serving-pawns-from-the-bench

  • Try to serve the pawns from the bank. Team that empties the bank first wins
  • With 7-9 (odd number) players in a circle,
  • Overhead passing,
    • skip 1 person each time.
  • Then the same, but underhand.
  • 4 players per field half, on the corners of the field.
  • 1 player works, gets 2x a ball from each player. First thrown, diagonally, then hit.
  • Movement is clockwise. Move quickly, high tempo exercise.
  • If there are more than 10 players, 6 per field half can also be placed.

Two teams. After each ball that goes over the net, 1 position is rotated. First at the 10.

  • 2 rows, back left and back right, 1 without ball (front), rest with ball.
  • 2 players at the net, front left and front right
    • Player 1 row left throws the ball in the middle,
    • Player 1 row right passes BH to left front, then from left to right.
    • After that, BH passes, tap player before the ball is there
    • Afterwards BH, player may attack



Play

  1. Pass the ball in 2x
  2. Ball must be passed in 3x, NO (hard) attack (goal: to maintain rally)
  3. 3 meter attack through the middle

  • 2 players at the 7 meter line and a SV at the net.
  • 1 server on RA, someone on LA and a blocker at the net.
  • Server serves to the 2 people across the court.
  • They pass to the SV who gives a 3-meter ball or a ball at the net (discuss what you want).
  • The blocker tries to block the ball.
  • The server passes after the serve and plays out the attack (if possible).

There are two teams. These teams serve against each other. So you have to do the field vertically through the middle. On the picture you see what the left team has to do. The right team does the same but a little further to the right. The intention is to hit the person sitting down. This person has to put his butt on the ground and catch the ball without bouncing.

There is a person sitting on the other side of the table, just behind the net, on the right front side. The goal is to hit this person. You do this with your group until you succeed. If it succeeds, the server moves to the back right and the person in front of the net joins the row to serve as well. If the serve is successful and the person at the back can catch the ball without a bounce, the server may sit in the middle of the front row. If the server has a good serve on him, he will sit at the back mid court.

You can do that twice in a row, but you can also do that they have won if they have had all 4 positions. So it's a competition to see which of the two teams gets all 4 positions the quickest.

  • make pairs
  • 2 against 2 on a half field
  • the first ball must be passed underarms and the 2nd ball must be passed overhead
  • adjust to hit ball over it
  • overhead pass
  • on each side 4 people with the ball on the back line
  • on each side 1 person without ball between the 3 and 7 meter line
  • first you throw the volleyball which is caught, then you throw the tennis ball.
  • Extend to only throw the volleyball and then pass the ball in/or against the basket. in the basket is 2 points against the basket is 1 point. who has 10 points first.
  • You run after the ball. when you have caught it you connect to your own side of the net.field-coordination
