Volleyball drills

  • Team builds up attack after serving.
  • After the attack opposite player (S1, S2 or S3) throws the ball right back into the field
  • (ball jumps back from the block),
  • team builds up new attack
  • etcetera

collision-coverage

  • jump up from a crouch as far as possible,
  • from the line to the net and back.
  • Player T.A. from the net:
    • 3 teams on the back line on the belly
  • Player gives slap on ball, 3 players stand up and trainer attacks one of the trio defends, nr. 2 setup and nr. 3 attacks
    • then next 3 team
  • Andre side are 3 blockers.
  • Slide through per 3 team

Goal: ball lane recognition, take position in time.

  • Ball path: A throws to B, B passes to C.
  • Direction of play: A, B, C
  • B moves (before the ball has passed the net) to the right position (90%) and is active instead of re-active.
  • B assumes the correct position when the ball passes the net.
  • B adjusts in the remaining time to the correct position (10%).
  • Possibly build up:
    • First B catches the ball with bent arms.
    • after that B passes the ball underarms.

Attacking at position 4, blocking at pos 2 on the other side (if there are enough players also blocking at pos 3), defending at pos 1 and 6. After defending, the ball is caught by the blocker.

  • 1 sv
  • Defenders remain standing
  • Attacker becomes a blocker on pos. 2, if also a blocker on pos. 3, the blocker stays standing.
  • After 5 minutes the defenders (and blockers) change.
  • Attack at pos. 2 and 3, blocking at pos. 3 and 4 (if 1 blocker stands where the attack is going on), defence at pos. 5 and 6.

  • Two teams either side of the field one team.
  • Comes into the field with a man plays the ball over the not and then goes out of the field.
  • Next one enters the field and on and on
  • Make threes
  • Each trio one ball.
  • Player in the middle runs an 8. Every time this player comes in the middle a ball is thrown:
    • A throws (or plays overhand) the ball to B (in the middle).
    • B plays the ball back to A underhand and then runs around A until he is in the middle again.
    • A meanwhile passes the ball overhead to C.
    • C plays the ball overhand back to B.
    • B passes the ball back to C underhand and then runs around C until he is in the middle again.
    • Etc.
  • After 2-3 minutes, the player in the middle changes.

Variation:

  • To make it easier, player A and C can also have them throw instead of playing overhand. This can be an underhand throw/catch or an overhand throw/catch.
  • To practice standing still while playing/catching, you can also let player B throw and catch underhand.

This exercise is fun to do and gives a lot of fun and competition! Relays in general already create competition.

What this exercise also wants to mimic is the stress factor that a serve brings.

  • The players are divided into equal teams and lined up on the serving area of the same court.
  • The first player of a team serves and retrieves his ball.
  • After the next player is tapped, this one serves, and so on.

It is important for a player to serve quickly, but it must also be flawless, otherwise the ball must be retrieved and served again!

If the teams are small, it is fun to let everyone serve two or three times.

Necessary:

  • A minimum of 6 players
  • As many balls as there are teams

2 teams.

  • Throw the ball quickly and tactically over the net with the aim of hitting the ground within the lines before a defender can grab it.
  • If you succeed in doing so, you earn 1 point.
  • You have to throw the ball immediately after catching it, holding the ball is not allowed.
  • Extension 1: After each action turn 1 position clockwise.
  • Extension 2: After each throwing action, walk to the net and touch it before you can go back.
  • Game to e.g. 5 points or best of 3/5/7 or certain fixed time.
  • 4 at the back line and 4 at the net with the ball.
  • You pass on the left after the action you dive to the back line.
  • And then turn right.
  • 3 players in the backfield on both sides of the net.
  • SV on both sides of the net.
  • 3 reserve players on either side of the net.
    1. Service,
    2. Reception,
    3. T.A. or FB SV to non-receptionist,
    4. Defense,
    5. pass,
    6. 3-m attack to player who has not yet made a touch. (These 3 players go off the field and are replaced by the 3 backup players).
    7. Team on other side does defense and proceeds analogously as above.
  • Divide the teams on both halves of the field.
  • Trainer throws in the ball and the teams play the ball across it to each other.
  • Every player who has played the ball taps the back line and comes back into the field.
  • Start with catching and throwing first and if that goes well you start playing for real (BH or OA)
  • OR
  • After each time playing over the net turn around
