Volleyball drills
- players stand in groups of 3
- 1 player sits on a skirting board (2 parts of it) with feet on the ground (in proper position like reception) on the 3m line and plays the ball in reception position to the passer.
- Another player stands on the passer position and will catch the ball which the player on the skirting board will play to him in reception.
- A 3rd player (standing on a rise) throws or hits the ball to the player on the skirting board.
- This ball must come from high so that there is a build up to a solid reception.
- The passer throws every time the caught ball to the one who throws in.
- After x number of times you change positions.
2 teams, one of which plays with 6.
- If team sees opposing team use pass/key to play over the net,
- the entire team must move backwards, away from the center.
If opposing team plays an attack through midfield, they must be in the regular lineup.
Make 3 threes:
- 2 trios form base 6
- Coach plays ball high over the net, back players handle this ball.
- Point of attention: the two outside players (position 2 and 4) must move backwards when they see the high ball, in order to defend, and then be ready for the attack again.
- Play out the rally in a concentrated manner.
- Teams of 3 alternate.
- 4 players in pass on 1
- the rest of the players stand on the other side of the net to catch and throw the ball
- first player throws the ball over
- set-up with pass to outfield player
- outfield player places the ball in the marked zones
- after each attack we rotate
Per player 1 ball:
- throw up the ball for yourself and stop it through reception (bend your knees well)
- same exercise but now play OH first
- same exercise but play BH
- combination, play OH, control BH and catch in reception
- x-number of players standing on a bench
- x-number of players in front at 2 to 3 meters
- player in front of the bench throws the ball so that the player on the bench can catch BH
- player on the bench catches BH > drops to his knees and rolls the ball towards the player on the ground
The field is divided in 4 equal fields
- per field 2 players
- ball is thrown OH over the net
- the other players do a correct OH ball recovery by playing it to the basket, the player who is not on the ball runs to the basket and takes the bra.
- the easy version ends here
You can make this exercise more difficult by playing in one time.
Warm up from the back line to the net:
- run
- unscrew right arm
- Untie the left arm
- Untie both arms
- raise your knee
- heels-bottoms
- sideways (left and right)
- cross pass
- dive
Emphasis is on technique OH, so start with throwing the ball, if this goes well you can switch to key, attack or serve.
- R1 throws the ball over to R2
- R2 passes OH the ball to P2 (can be placed on a mat, where he/she is not allowed to get off) (comes into BH position)
- P2 passes BH to A2
- A2 passes to R1
- R1 passes OH the ball to P1 (may be placed on a mat, which he/she is not allowed to leave) (enters BH position)
- P1 passes BH to A1
- A1 plays to R2
- ....
- Trainer plays ball to passer
- Passer gives BH pass to attacker
- Attacker plays to the predetermined zones by means of a BH
Turn after every ball
Exercise can be made more difficult by placing a defence (block)
Exercise to control the reception movement:
per 2 players a ball + hoop
- player A throws the ball in arc to player B with hoop
- Player B tries to estimate where the ball will fall by putting down the hoop.
Points of attention:
- Correct reception position
- sinking through the knees
You can extend the exercise by playing reception with the hoop leaning on the ground.
- Play in pairs.
- Player at the net plays overhand,
- The other passes underhand.
- Before the back-player passes, she taps the ground with both hands.
- Goal: sit low
In groups of three, one ball;
- Release
- Strikes and make the ball "dead
- Control test:
- Everyone 20x ball contact
- Single key:
- Everyone 20x ball contact
- Underhanded-Upperhanded:
- Everyone 20x ball-contacts
- Sparring
